We Make Growth Happen
In a Peterson Institute for International Economics working paper they present the results of a survey of nearly 22,000 firms globally that . They found that in 2014 almost 60% of these firms had no female board members, just over half had no female C-suite executives, and fewer than 5% had a female CEO. There was some variation across countries, and sectors as well: financial services, health care, utilities, and telecommunications were relatively welcoming to female leadership, while fewer women were found at the top in basic materials, technology, energy, and industrial sectors.
While another study on Dress for Success, back in 1960, conducted at Corporate America, found that women in the STEM industries felt like they needed to not being themselves, and instead to look and behave like their male counterparts in order to be successful.
We at Lopez De Gull Revamp have found from interviewing a group of 100 women in Silicon Valley, that 8 out of 10 women still believe the same limiting beliefs from 1960, that are reinforced by the dynamics in the working environments when people judge women, and men that wear different styles to go to work.
Make sure the environment in your company is really inclusive for all professionals, where employees can express their authenticity in a professional way, and for women to be able to advance their career, leads and positively influence the innovation and services that create more revenue for your company in the long run.
